This Villa fan will restore your faith in football

The transfer window has now shut, and fans across the country will be fervently analysing their club’s business.

It’s certainly easy to get caught up in the seemingly unregulated madness of the transfer window, but every now and then something comes along to remind you why we all love the beautiful game.

And this time, that thing is Tom Griffiths.

Tom is seven years old and is Aston Villa mad.

He is also battling leukaemia.

But as his father Nick says, Tom is able to forget his condition for 90 minutes when he watches his beloved Villa, as it ‘makes him feel like a normal kid’.

So as the dust settles on the transfer window, if you’ve found yourself despairing at the astronomical fees and last minute emails, just remember – this is what football’s really about.
