A woman has died after the car she was driving collided with a HGV in Stafford.
Emergency services were called to the A51 near to the junction with Tolldish Lane in Great Haywood, at around 8.45pm last night (13 November), after a black Audi A3 was involved in a collision with a white Scania Tanker truck.
Paramedics say the driver of the Audi, a 26-year-old woman, was severely trapped, but they began to administer trauma care whilst the fire service worked carefully around them to cut away the wreckage to release her.
The driver, from Market Drayton area, was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital but has sadly died as a result of her injuries.
The woman's family have been informed and are receiving the appropriate care and support from specially trained officers.
Formal identification has not yet taken place.
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "If you witnessed the collision or have any information that could help with our investigation, please call us on 101 quoting incident 803 of 13 November."
