Six men arrested after reports of fighting and car vandalism in Stoke-on-Trent

Staffordshire Police arrested six men in their 20s after being called out twice on Thursday night.

Officers were called to Nelson Street in Fenton at around 9pm after several reports of fighting in the area.

It was also reported that car windows had been smashed in Nelson Street and nearby Christchurch Street.

There were similar reports of a disturbance in Rochester Road, Sandford Hill, involving a large group of people fighting.

Due to the information received both armed and unarmed officers were deployed to the scene.

An investigation into both disturbances, which are linked, is now underway and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Inspector Mick Eyre, of Staffordshire Police, said due to the nature of the incidents police activity in the two areas remains high.

"I want to take this opportunity to reassure residents that we take such matters extremely seriously and respond with the appropriate resources," he said.

"Such behaviour on our streets is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

"A detailed investigation will now take place to establish exactly what happened, why and who was involved. We will take positive action against those involved in such criminal activity."
