Plans submitted for changes to Congleton Leisure Centre

Cheshire East Council has submitted a planning application for 'major improvements' at Congleton Leisure Centre.

They include a new six-lane swimming pool, new learner pool, community meeting spaces, a soft play area with access to a café and a gym with facilities over two floors.

The application will be considered on 13 March, but residents are invited to attend drop-in events at the centre from today:

  • Tuesday 22 January, 6pm-8pm;
  • Thursday 24 January, 6pm-8pm;
  • Saturday 26 January, 9:30am-11:30am;
  • Tuesday 29 January 9:30am-12pm;
  • Wednesday 30 January, 9:30am-12pm.

Councillor Liz Wardlaw, deputy leader of Cheshire East Council and cabinet member for health, said: “I’m pleased we are moving forward with our plans for Congleton’s leisure centre.

"The current facilities are not fit for purpose and I hope that people will share my excitement in the new proposals that have been submitted to planning.

“Not only do they provide Congleton with state-of-the art facilities, they also improve the current leisure offer and include a multifunctional space where communities can come together.

“I encourage anyone with an interest in the plans for the leisure centre to come along to the drop-in sessions to find out more.”
