Officers helped to save man's life at Keele Services

Two officers have been thanked after helped a man who had suffered a cardiac arrest at Keele Services.

PCs Sarah Gifford and Barry Joynson were at the services on the M6 for another incident, when they saw staff crouched around a man on the floor in the recovery position.

The officers performed CPR and were supported by staff with a defibrillator until ambulance staff arrived. 

They then escorted the ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where they continued to help with CPR. 

The man, a 49-year-old from Manchester, remains in hospital. 

The duty manager at Keele Services contacted the officers to express his gratitude.
