A Congleton resident was forced to hand over cash by five masked men wearing balaclavas.
Police say they gained entry to a flat in Moston Court at around 9.30pm on Tuesday (6 August) after the occupant opened the door, after they banged on it and claimed to be from the police.
Once inside, the offenders - one of whom was holding a crowbar and another was carrying a wooden bat - demanded money.
After being shown the location of some cash they fled with the money in an unknown direction.
All of the offenders are described as being white and around 5’ 9” tall. They are estimated to be in their 20s.
Four of them had a slim build and the other was stocky.
The stocky man was wearing a light grey V-neck sweatshirt. The other offenders were dressed in black.
Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and detectives are urging anyone with information or footage regarding the offenders to get in touch.
Detective Constable Andrew Roberts, of Macclesfield CID, said: “I would like to reassure the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are determined to establish the identities of the offenders and bring them to justice.
