Man charged over knifepoint robbery

A man has been charged after a robbery at a house near Crewe, where the occupant was threatened with a knife.

Cash and a mobile phone were stolen by a man who had knocked on his door claiming to be delivering a takeaway to the property in Bodnant Close, Leighton, at around 9.15pm last Wednesday (28 August).

A 41-year-old man was arrested at his Crewe home at around 10pm yesterday (5 September).

He has subsequently been charged with aggravated burglary.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Crewe Magistrates’ Court today (6 September).
