Explosives team called to Tunstall after report of suspicious package

A road was closed off in Tunstall this afternoon, after police received a report of a suspicious package.

A cordon was put in place at Knight Street, while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were deployed to the scene.

After carrying out an inspection, they have found that the item was a type of firework and a controlled explosion was not necessary.

It has been removed safely and the road will re-open shortly.
