A driver has suffered minor injuries in a crash in Staffordshire.

Fire crews from Hanley and Longton, West Midlands Ambulance Service and officers from Staffordshire Police were called to the A520 Leek Road between Wetley Rocks and Cellarhead around 6:20am this morning (16 May).

The collision involved a van and a people carrier.

One driver had to be rescued from his vehicle, and was taken to hospital.

Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service have tweeted: "We’d like to thank the two Pointon’s drivers who stopped to help at the scene prior to our arrival.

"Their quick thinking & swift work in stabilising the vehicles involved in the collision helped us in our efforts to extract the trapped driver quickly."

The road remains closed while a fuel spillage is cleaned up and the vehicles are recovered.
