14 now arrested in connection with Shelton disorder

Further arrests have been made by officers investigating disorder in part of Stoke-on-Trent, in which one man was stabbed.

Four other people were hurt following the disturbance in the Sun Street area last Thursday (25 July).

One man remains in hospital in stable condition. 

A total of 14 people have now been arrested, as part of the ongoing investigation, and a number of properties have been searched. 

A 27-year-old and a 28-year-old, both from Stoke-on-Trent, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent disorder and attempted murder. 

A 27-year-old and a 24-year-old, both from Nottingham, have also been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit violent disorder and attempted murder. 

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, and two men, aged 18 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of affray. Five men – two 24-year-olds, two 19-year-olds and 20-year-old and a 17-year-old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder. All of the men are from the Stoke-on-Trent area. 

All have been released on conditional bail until the end of August whilst enquiries continue. 

Chief Inspector Mark Barlow, commander for Stoke North neighbourhood policing team, said: “We continue to have increased patrols in the area and will address any concerns from residents and businesses following the incident. 

“I would like to continue to reassure the community that a number of detectives are investigating the incident and anyone with concerns can speak to local neighbourhood officers.”
