Stoke throw away two goal lead

Stoke City raced into a two-goal inside the opening 22 minutes but were held to a 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday

Benik Afobe scored twice inside the opening 22 minutes to put the Potters into the ascendency.

Marco Matias pulled one back on 24 minutes.

Stoke looked certain to hang on for victory before Barry Bannan equalised eight minutes from time.

The result leaves the Potters winless on the road and in 20th place in the table.

Gary Rowett's side are back in action on Tuesday night when they entertain Swansea.
