Stoke sign Ince

Stoke City have made their fifth signing of the summer.

Tom Ince has joined from Huddersfield in a deal that could rise to £12million with add-ons.

The Potters have paid an initial £10million for the 26-year-old winger.

He has signed a four-year contract and follows Peter Etebo, Benik Afobe, Adam Federici and James McClean in arriving ahead of the new season.

Ince, the son of former England skipper Paul Ince, finds himself reunited with Gary Rowett who he worked under at Derby.

Rowett said: “I’ve had the fortune to work with Tom before and he’s a terrifically talented player. He’s very strong technically and can play anywhere across the front three, but he’s particularly good from the right-hand side.

“His record in the Championship speaks for itself and we’re really fortunate to have got him in the building.”

City Chief Executive Tony Scholes added: “Tom has great experience of the Championship and Premier League and he’s a proven goal-scorer at this level which makes him an exciting addition to our squad ahead of the new season.”

Ince, who lists Liverpool, Blackpool and Hull among his former clubs, made 33 Premier League appearances last season for Huddersfield. He scored his first goal for the Terriers against Stoke in a 1-1 draw on Boxing Day.
