Stoke Potters clash called off due to heavy downpours

Stoke Potters league meeting with Plymouth at Loomer Road on Saturday night has been postponed.

Heavy rain early this morning and some late afternoon showers, plus a forecast of further rain overnight and on Saturday, left the Potters promotion with no alternative but to call off the meeting.

Promoter Dave Tattum said: “We had some heavy downpours early today and that had already left the track extremely wet and further showers later this afternoon has not helped.

”We’ve checked the forecast and there are further showers expected overnight and more tomorrow (Saturday). There is also a weather warning in force for the Newcastle area for the next 24-hours, so we have taken the decision to prevent riders and supporters travelling.“

No new date for the fixture has been arranged.

Stoke are due back in action when they make the long trek to Plymouth, two weeks tonight, on Friday 23 August.
