Crewe Alexandra's outside chances of making the play-off's suffered a blow last night.
They were held to a 0-0 draw at Cambridge United.
The Alex made one change for the game with Shaun Miller coming in for Charlie Kirk while Alex Nicholls and Nicky Hunt came in on the substitutes bench for Owen Dale and Jamie Sterry.
Speaking after the game to club's official website manager Dave Artell said: “It feels like a defeat. I don’t think 3-0 by the end of the game would have flattered us. If it was a boxing match it would have been stopped after an hour.
“We showed great endeavour but lacked that quality and ruthlessness. We had some glorious chances, with Shaun (Miller) and obviously Chris (Porter) and Oli (Finney) at the end.
“As a collective team everyone has to be culpable and take responsibility for it being 0-0. We did well defensively but weren’t ruthless at the other end.
“I’m not blaming individuals, we still created plenty but didn’t have that killer instinct. We couldn’t get the goal we deserved.”
The result leaves the Alex in 15th in the table, ten points off the play-off places.
Crewe are back in action on Saturday when they entertain Crawley.
