Open Auditions, Penkhull Mystery plays

Saturday, May 18th

Event Summary

'If you want to spend an enjoyable few weeks getting involved in community theatre, come along to Penkhull Village Hall on 18th and 19th May 2019, at 2 till 5 pm. Penkhull Mystery Plays are holding their open auditions for "Children of the Potteries" this years mystery play.

The overall theme is about making decorated ware by the labourers, families and children working in the Pot Banks, and the conditions in which they lived. Out of the hardship, poverty and smoke blackened atmosphere came some highly decorated ware that gave Stoke a lasting legacy.

Penkhull had a Sunday/Day School on the Green in 1841. The Church started to be built in 1842 so they knocked the school down to make room for it. The school was rebuilt across the road in 1845 and is now Penkhull Village Hall. '
