Public File

Each local commercial radio station in the UK has certain requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech levels etc. These requirements are set out in the station "Format", a document issued by Ofcom, the UK’s radio regulator. This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music tracks, local news etc.


News Bulletin Schedule:

Signal 1 broadcasts bulletins containing a mix of local, UK and world news together with sport, entertainment, travel and weather information every hour on weekdays 6am to 7pm (headlines at 06.30, 07.30, 08.30, 17:30 18:30), Saturdays and Sundays 8am to 1pm. Bulletins are taken from Sky News at all other times.

Local programming:

Signal 2’s programming is live and locally produced 6am to 7pm (Monday to Friday), 6am to 6pm (Saturdays) and 6am to 1pm (Sundays). Programmes outside these times are automated or shared with the other Wireless stations.


Localness Guidelines:

Ofcom, the government regulator with responsibility for local radio, has produced localness guidelines that this station adheres to. These guidelines can be read here.

Events / Charity Support:

Signal Radio has its own fundraising appeal called "The Feel The Love Fund” which raises thousands of pounds for local charities and appeals throughout Staffordshire and Cheshire.  We raise money for other charities with a number of events throughout the year, including "Bring A Pound Day” for the Dougie Mac Hospice and "Christmas Jumper Day" for The Donna Louise.
